REFUND POLICY FOR DERISCOPE
A Deriscope subscription may be cancelled at any time without penalty, but no refund is issued for any payment that is already made, even if some unused period still remains when the cancellation order is placed.
When a cancellation order is placed, Deriscope remains accessible for the remaining portion of the already paid subscription period.
The only exception is when the cancellation is done in order to upgrade to a same or higher value license, which is the case when the cancellation order is followed by a purchase of a new license of the same or a higher value within the time the canceled license remains usable.
Then the canceled license will cease to function on the date the new license is purchased and a pro rata discount corresponding to any unused portion of the old license minus one month will be applied on the cost of the new license upon request.
In the case of perpetual licenses, the one month corresponds to 1/36 of the license's price since a perpetual license's price is calculated as the cost of holding an annual license for three years.
As an example, if an order for a 5-seat Standard annual subscription license is placed on 23 February 2022 and a cancellation request is logged on the following day, i.e. on 24 February 2022, no charge will apply after 24 February 2022, while Deriscope will remain accessible until 23 February 2023.
If a new order for a (5+)-seat (Standard or Premium) (subscription or one-off) license is subsequently placed at any time before 23 February 2023, this new order will be deemed as an upgrade and will be eligible for the mentioned upgrade discount.
Concretely, if the new order is placed on 5 January 2023, the original license will cease on that same date and the purchaser shall be entitled to a refund (in the form of a discount on the price of the new license) of the remaining unused period from 5 January 2023 to 23 February 2023 less a month.
The latter month applies at the front end of the unused period, meaning that the refund will correspond to the interval from 5 February 2023 to 23 February 2023.
The refund is calculated pro-rata based on calendar days.
In the above example, the calendar days in the refund period are 23 - 5 = 18 days. The number of calendar days in the subscription period from 23 February 2022 to 23 February 2023 are 365. Therefore the refund amount will be the fraction 18/365 of X, where X the amount already paid on 23 February 2022.
